These terms cover fourballs, hole sponsorships, prize holes and extras booked through a golf day's page on Pin High (pinhigh.co.za). They are separate from our membership refund policy, which covers premium membership only.
Who you are buying from
A golf day is run and sold by its organiser — the company, school, charity or society whose name is on the page. They set the prices, the format and the terms of the day, and they are responsible for running it. Pin High provides the page, the bookings, the scoring and the payment machinery, and collects payment on the organiser's behalf. Card payments are processed by Paystack; we never see or store your card details.
This means your booking is an agreement with the organiser. Their contact details are on the day's page and in every email we send you about the booking, and they are the people to speak to first about anything to do with the day itself.
Booking and payment
- A booking is held — not confirmed — until it is paid. The hold lasts as long as the organiser has set, 48 hours by default, and an unpaid booking is released automatically when it runs out. We email you when that happens.
- Where the organiser accepts cards, you can pay online. Where they accept EFT, use your booking reference exactly so they can match it; they mark it paid when it lands and you get an email then.
- A fourball can be split between up to eight people, each with their own link and their own share. The booking is confirmed when the last share is paid.
- Prices shown include everything the organiser charges. Card payments carry a 4.5% processing fee, which is included in the price you see and paid out of what the organiser receives, not added to your total.
Changing your booking
- Names are free to change until the organiser opens the scoring on the day, from the same link you used to book. If one of your four drops out, put somebody else in their place — there is no charge and no need to ask.
- A place can be given to another player the same way. You do not need a new booking and the organiser does not need to be told.
Cancellations and refunds
Refunds are the organiser's to give. Ask them, using the contact details on the day's page. Unless they have published their own terms on the day's page, the following applies:
- Cancel more than 14 days before the day: full refund.
- Between 14 and 7 days before: half refunded.
- Inside 7 days: no refund, unless the organiser is able to resell your place — most days can, and most organisers will.
This reflects what a golf day actually costs an organiser: green fees, catering and prizes are committed in the week of the event. The Consumer Protection Act allows a supplier to charge a reasonable cancellation fee on an advance booking, and the sliding scale above is what we consider reasonable for a golf day.
How the money comes back. The organiser pays you back directly, however you paid. A card payment goes straight to the organiser's bank account as you pay it, so a refund comes from them (usually by EFT), not from Pin High, and Pin High does not reverse card payments. The 4.5% processing fee on a card payment is not returned.
Because a golf day is a leisure service supplied on a specific date, the seven-day cooling-off right for goods bought online does not apply to it. The cancellation terms above do.
If the day is moved or called off
- Moved to a new date: your booking moves with it, and the organiser will tell you. If the new date does not suit you, you may cancel for a full refund.
- Called off entirely: the organiser refunds in full.
- Weather: a shortened round is still a day played, and refunds are then at the organiser's discretion. If the course cannot be played at all, the day is treated as called off.
On the day
You play under the club's rules and the organiser's format. Handicaps are calculated from the index you give us; an index that is wrong is the player's responsibility, and the organiser may correct one that is obviously so. Scoring is done on a phone by one person in each fourball, and the leaderboard is public while the day is being played.
Your details
What you enter when booking — names, contact details, handicap indexes and anything the organiser asks for, such as shirt sizes or dietary requirements — is shared with the organiser of that day so they can run it. Player names and scores appear on the day's public leaderboard. Everything else is covered by our privacy policy.
Anything else
Speak to the organiser first: they run the day. If something has gone wrong with a payment, a refund or the page itself, email hello@pinhigh.co.za and we will help. Pin High's responsibility is limited to the service we provide — the page, the bookings, the payment and the scoring — and does not extend to the running of the day itself.
